I Love my Car!

These photos were taken before I owned a Digital SLR. Boys must have toys right?? I love my car! it spends more time in the garage or getting waxed then I do driving it, but these are some photos with me just trying to capture some of it's gorgeous lines, and also showing off my detailing by the highly reflective paint.

Matlacha, Pine Island, Lee County Florida

Matlacha (pronounced "MAT-la-shay") is an "Old Florida" fishing village home to many brightly-colored art galleries, island boutiques, seafood restaurants, and traditional Florida cottages. I am blessed to have this in the county I live. Brilliant vibrant colours and that "Old Florida" style makes it a fun place to visist, along with a great place to spend the day taking photos.I would highly recommend to anyone that visiste Lee or Collier counties to come and spend an afternoon in Matlacha....get away from the malls, the over crowded beaches and see old Florida.

The Moon

Tonight's full  moon is the closest it shall appear in our skies for another 19 years. This is my first attempt at photographing the moon. It was all done "Hand Held" with manual exposure. I found I had to greatly underexpose to try and get any detail even using a spot meter.  I definitely thing a larger lense would have helped. These photos were shoot from my backyard with only a 200mm lenses, then cropped.

Banyan Tree from the Edison-Ford Museum

The very first banyan tree planted in the U.S.was here in Fort Myers by Thomas Edison. For those of you that have never seen the beauty of the Banyan tree they ca be breath taking. There is something magickal and mystical in it's majestic beauty that makes this tree appear almost other-worldly.

I decided to show this tree in black and white, simply because the focus is on the tree...and being mostly in gray-scale, the detail and beauty of it really shines in B/W.

This is ONE tree, not a grove of trees.

Lover's Key

Living in South West Florida I have a few favorite beaches. I try to avoid Fort Myers Beach, especially this time of year, way too many tourist. Two of my favorites are Lover's Key State park, Locate on the south end of Fort Myers Beach  by Bonbita Springs, and Siesta Key in Sarasota County about 1 hour north of mere.

Thereare times in the "off "season one can visit Lover's Key and feel like Tom Hanks in cast away; not a soul on the beach in some areas.

I like the contrast and the drama of B/W photos on the beach and hope you enjoy these.

Buildings

I love Buildings! Not newer industrial looking buildings, but older structures, or "Florida Style" Spanish.
I enjoy buildings in both colour and B/W and here are a few examples of "Buildings"

Flowers

Who doesn't love flowers?? I love them; inside my home, planted in yards....or my favorite, found in nature.

Florida Swamps

Living so close to the everglades we are surrounded by so much beauty that sometimes we must stop all of the hustle and bustle of our busy lives and just enjoy what God has given us. I'm amazed at how many people I've talked to that has never even heard of, nor even visited this slough....and it is central in South Fort Myers...Pity. Stop...take a breath...enjoy nature, enjoy the beauty in the small things and the big things!

Meet my Cats!

I just love animals! my first dog Taby, a was adopted as well as of the of Pugs I had in my marriage. My cats have bee rescued from The Lee County animal shelter in Fort Myers and are wonderful cats!
The First photo and last photos are of Kosmo climbing into my newly constructed light box I made for my food photograph....I figured...well he's in the box....pictures away!

Six Mile Cypress Slough

Some of the most beautiful images I have taken have come from sloughs or swamps. This particular slough is less than 7 miles from my home. It is home to a variety of wildlife and the filtered lighting inside of the forest can lead to some breath taking images.

I typically shoot for colour outdoors with my saturation  on my camera set to the highest. Intense and vivid is what I try to achieve. Photography to me is far more about "art" than it is to take a "snap shot". Anyone can take a snap shot, but these images were created the way my mind saw them.
